http://www.thebridgeproject.org
The BRIDGE Program is a collaborative effort
among iEARN programs in 17 countries. This program is
focused to
integrate educators from Algeria, Bangladesh, Egypt, India, Iraq,
Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Nepal, Pakistan, Indonesia,
Malaysia, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates, West Bank/Gaza, Yemen, and
the United States into IEARN projects and provide practical,
online classroom materials to promote partnerships between secondary
schools among the participating countries. The iEARN BRIDGE
program (Building Respect Through Internet
Dialogue and Global Education) aims to show that the integration of
collaborative online projects and Internet communication in the
classroom, can prove to be invaluable in promoting cross-cultural
understanding and conflict resolution.
During the year
2005-2006 iEARN-Pakistan will work to support 40 new schools and at
least 120 educators to integrate iEARN Online Projects and
collaborate with schools from other BRIDGE countries.
iEARN-Pakistan has supported
hundreds of schools and thousands of students for participation in
the BRIDGE Program since 2002. The participating schools and
students from Pakistan and other participating countries have since
then produced publications, community-outreach
projects, web sites, CD-ROMs, research videos and have
traveled to USA on student exchange. Several teachers received
the unique opportunity to participate in the regional conferences in
Egypt and Jordan. . BRIDGE has been administered by iEARN
Pakistan since 2002,
in
collaboration with
the
iEARN-US and United States Department of State, Bureau of Educational
and
Cultural Affairs,
and
all the
participating
BRIDGE countries..
